Enterprise Database Team Supervisor
(IT Data Management Senior/Specialist). Within the IT Division, the Applications & Data Management (A&DM) program is dedicated to delivering advanced web capabilities and data solutions to citizens and businesses across Washington. The Database team supports a hundreds of major database systems for 400 custom applications and COTS applications. Data in these systems is used for reporting, data analytics, providing claims and employer data to other applications and systems, and supports the agencies enterprise reporting capabilities. If selected for this role, you will apply your senior level Enterprise Database technical skills and knowledge to lead in data management technologies, standards, best practices, data management lifecycle, and data management technologies. Duties
Supervise and lead the Enterprise Database team through changes to complex data management systems and interfaces. Coach, lead, mentor, and provide guidance to the Database team with an eye towards future responsibilities and goals of individual team members. Develop technology roadmaps for highly-complex systems that have significant statewide or multi-agency impact. Lead projects to integrate new and existing technologies. Plan, analyze, and design applications or enhancements for systems that are high risk, high impact and mission critical. Design, develop, and implement data solutions using Microsoft technologies, Transact SQL, SQL Server databases, Software as a Service (SaaS), and/or Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) so that systems are compliant with agency and industry standards. Ensure security of the data warehouse and compliance with data governance standards. Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and product teams to create appropriate data structures that support analytical needs. Work with developers and data analysts to design databases that meet application and reporting requirements. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in data warehousing, big data, and related methodologies. And much more! Qualifications
Required:
Five (5) years of advanced IT experience as an IT Manager or technical lead Including leading IT professionals in implementing business systems, applications, new technology and infrastructure Ten (10) years* of professional experience in all of the following: Administrating MS SQL Server (creating indexes, DB maintenance, backups/recovery, etc.) Database management systems such as, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, etc. Database design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance SQL querying, stored procedures, triggers, and other database scripting languages Performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting database issues, Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, capacity planning, troubleshooting database issues, monitoring and troubleshooting tools Advanced database security principles and best practices Designing and implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions Strong understanding of data integrity, normalization, and data modeling concepts Documenting database architectures, processes, and procedures comprehensively NOTE: Education may substitute year for year for experience up to four (4) years for a Bachelor’s degree and up to two (2) years for an associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or a closely aligned field.
