This Staff Research Associate II provides a variety of support and research functions within the lab. Primary responsibilities include: Assist lab members with molecular biology techniques, tissue culture techniques, and animal handling. Culture and maintain pluripotent stem cell cultures (hPSCs), including passaging stem cell clones, isolation of genomic DNA, and genotyping cells by PCR and sequencing. Support a large-scale hPSCs genome engineering workflow involving genome editing, project tracking, quality control of reagents and materials, and report writing. Work on various research projects involving planning, designing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, and interpreting data under the supervision of the PI. Assist with duties such as autoclaving, ordering and restocking lab supplies. Manage protocols and ensure lab safety and protocol compliance. Responsibilities
The SRA will culture and maintain pluripotent stem cell cultures (hPSCs), including passaging stem cell clones, isolating genomic DNA, and genotyping by PCR and sequencing. Support a large-scale hPSC genome engineering workflow involving genome editing, project tracking, reagent and vector quality control, and report writing. Standard molecular biology, tissue culture techniques, and rodent handling. Assist lab members with the maintenance and characterization of human stem cell cultures and genotyping, including DNA isolation, PCR amplification, and specimen preparation for sequencing. Maintain thorough records in laboratory notebooks and participate in weekly lab meetings to understand project objectives. Assist with research projects including optimizing and testing tissue culture and molecular biology protocols such as differentiation or staining protocols, under the guidance of the PI and other lab members. Plan and design experiments, discuss protocols with the PI, conduct experiments, analyze results and interpret data under supervision. Troubleshoot experiments including PCR and genotyping. Provide lab support duties including autoclaving waste and ordering/restocking supplies; assist with protocol renewals and safety inspections. Required Qualifications
Experience with sterile tissue culture techniques, PCR, basic lab maintenance duties, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with molecular biology techniques, knowledge of lab safety procedures, ability to design and conduct experiments and analyze data. Experience with lab automation and knowledge of material and information tracking in large-scale experiments. 1-year (cumulative) experience working in a biology research lab. Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related field and/or equivalent experience/training. Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry. Salary & Benefits
