Senior Software Architect – Operational (Ground) Platform
Job Title:
Senior Software Architect – Operational (Ground) Platform
Role Overview
An industry-leading technology organization is seeking a Senior Software Architect to design and implement large-scale, cloud-native operational platforms serving critical infrastructure industries. In this role, you’ll architect the systems that power observability, automation, and Kubernetes fleet management across distributed environments. You’ll also drive GitOps-based deployment and lifecycle management across bare metal, cloud, and hybrid clusters. This is a hands-on architecture position for someone who thrives on scale, standardization, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
Architect resilient, scalable infrastructure to support Kubernetes-based hosting platforms (K8s/K3s, OpenStack, or bare metal). Design GitOps workflows for automated multi-cluster deployment, configuration management, and infrastructure provisioning. Implement centralized governance, policy enforcement, and lifecycle automation across distributed Kubernetes fleets. Leverage GitOps tools such as ArgoCD, Flux, or equivalents to manage CI/CD pipelines and configuration consistency. Build robust observability stacks for fleet-wide monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar. Lead the architecture of internal operational platforms with intuitive user experiences for developers and DevOps teams. Partner with infrastructure, security, and DevOps stakeholders to optimize performance, security, and cost efficiency across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of experience architecting and delivering cloud-native or embedded platforms. Strong background in Linux or Android-based system architecture. Experience within regulated industries such as aerospace, automotive, or industrial technology. Preferred Experience
Proven expertise managing Kubernetes clusters at scale across hybrid cloud and bare-metal deployments. Deep knowledge of GitOps principles and tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux). Hands-on experience designing observability stacks for telemetry and operational health. Strong understanding of secure microservices infrastructure and distributed governance. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum) and mentoring engineering teams. Why Us
Opportunity to define platform architecture at global scale. Work on mission-critical infrastructure powering regulated, high-impact industries. Collaborate with experienced engineering leaders in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $150,000 – $230,000 (DOE) Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage. Additional benefits will be discussed during the application process. Location
Based in Irvine, CA. On-site or hybrid work options available. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future. This position does not offer sponsorship.
