Summary Description

Lead multiple CRS projects and programs of varying size and scope. Train and oversee CRS Managers executing project- and task-level management responsibilities. Provide strategic oversight and direction of client programs, collaborating with multiple RE Tech teams to ensure client satisfaction. Execute all responsibilities with minimal oversight. Supervise CRS team members and manage performance.

Essential Job Functions

Design, pitch, and lead multiple client programs across sectors that may include commercial real estate, private equity, lending, government, and public-private partnerships.

Oversee teams implementing client projects with components such as carbon accounting, decarbonization, climate risk management, vendor management, and public disclosures and third-party reporting.

Ensure excellence and client satisfaction for all CRS work, engaging CRS leadership, Technical Leads, and multi-disciplinary RE Tech team members as needed.

Manage client projects delivered by the CRS Team under your purview, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery within scope and client expectations. Oversee budgets, schedules, and deadlines via regular communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Create program budgets, monthly staffing allocations, and oversee budget tracking. Lead invoicing for assigned scopes of work as needed. Train and oversee CRS managers to support the invoice process as needed.

Facilitate proper setup, closeout, and periodic reviews of client engagements, including After-Action Reviews.

Provide subject matter expertise on client programs, including:

Design, development, and execution of organizational or fund-level decarbonization strategy.

Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions and property performance, including development of formal GHG inventories.

Climate risk management aligned with best-practice guidance from voluntary standards (e.g., TCFD, IFRS) and mandatory reporting requirements.

Identification, evaluation, and mitigation of transition risks at the client portfolio and assets, including compliance with state/local building performance and/or emissions benchmarks.

Identification and evaluation of vulnerability and exposure to physical risk related to future climate scenarios; strategies to reduce Value at Risk.

Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements in CRS service offerings and execute them as assigned by CRS leadership.

Supervise two or more direct reports, responsible for all aspects of employee performance management and engagement.

Ensure your team is properly resourced and staffed. Participate in the Talent Acquisition process, as directed by CRS leadership.

Contribute to business development through participation in or leadership of client strategy meetings, providing recommendations to add or enhance CRS team support, and participation in industry webinars or presentations. Create program budgets and scopes of work (SOWs) for assigned clients.

Track all time and expenses in BigTime.

Essential Knowledge And Skills

Deep knowledge of Climate Risk Solutions offerings and related domains, including:

Carbon accounting – methodologies, calculations, climate data software providers and tools, and industry guidance frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, PCAF)

Carbon reduction targets and disclosure frameworks (e.g., SBTi, CDP, RE100)

Physical risk – risk analytics software providers and strategies to identify, evaluate and mitigate physical risk from future climate scenarios

Transition risk – requirements and pathways to comply with state/local building performance standards

Decarbonization strategies – energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, green power procurement, and environmental certificates

Mandatory and voluntary frameworks addressing climate risk and emissions disclosure (e.g., CCDAA, SFDR, TCFD, IFRS)

Advanced proficiency in Excel and other data-driven software; ability to perform energy and financial analyses (e.g., simple payback, IRR, NPV, ROI).

Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.

Strong interpersonal skills for managing client, employee, and cross-team relationships.

Analytical and decision-making capabilities with attention to detail and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Advanced knowledge of collaboration tools and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Required Education And/or Experience

At least 5 years of applicable work experience in a related field

At least 3 years in a role requiring project management and/or program leadership, budget management, and oversight of others

Experience developing and advising on carbon accounting, climate risk management, and/or decarbonization programs, preferably in commercial building portfolios or investment portfolios

Experience in a client-facing consulting role delivering professional services and building relationships across clients and internal teams

Degree in engineering, finance, environmental management, business management or equivalent preferred

Travel Requirements

Periodic travel is required for the role. Travel may include trips to RE Tech offices (remote or between offices in Fairfax, VA and Dallas, TX) for meetings (estimated four times per year) and client-related travel.
