supports student success from enrollment through graduation by maintaining academic records and delivering services such as registration, classroom scheduling, enrollment verification, transcript processing, and degree conferral. Senior Associate Registrar for Academic and Graduation Records

plays a critical leadership role in advancing GW’s strategic priorities. This position oversees three core teams and serves as a member of the Registrar’s senior management team. Key Responsibilities Direction and support of the Graduation Records, Degree Audit, and Transfer Credit teams. Manage daily operations related to graduation applications, degree clearances, degree audits and articulation of transfer credit. Supervises and coordinates the responsibilities of the Graduation Records, Degree Audit and Transfer Credit teams to include providing leadership, helping to determine work priorities and ensuring that quality standards are met. Oversee academic graduation, degree audit, and transfer credit policy implementation in collaboration with academic units. Act as data steward for graduation, degree audit and transfer credit records. Lead operational strategy and implement technological enhancements to optimize the student information system in coordination with the Senior Associate Registrar for Registration, Academic Scheduling, and Student Services. Contribute to strategic planning and assess progress toward departmental goals. Drive initiatives to improve the student experience through system and process enhancements. Supervise and mentor staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and workforce planning. Serve on university committees and foster partnerships to support academic planning and student success. Resolve complex, cross-functional issues using technical and professional expertise. Ensure compliance with federal, university, and academic policies while maintaining data integrity. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and student-centered service. Collaborate with departments to implement innovative, automated solutions that enhance the student experience. Ensure FERPA compliance in the release of student information. Coordinate with the University Registrar, Senior Associate Registrar for Registration, Academic Scheduling, and Student Services as well as other academic leaders to develop shared standards and procedures. Maintain deep functional knowledge of systems used by the Graduation Records, Degree Audit, and Transfer Credit teams to assist with and coordinate trouble-shooting, upgrade testing, new functionality implementation, and recommendations for future enhancements. Work with Associate Deans, Program Directors, advisors, as well as other academic leaders to resolve scheduling and registration issues. Oversight of manual registrations, course drops/withdrawals, leaves of absence, and study abroad enrollments. Encourage and participate in professional development and cross-training across Registrar units. Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity Experience with Banner or similar student information system preferred Prior experience working in a registrar’s office Excellent customer service skills Commitment and experience developing a positive and proactive customer service-oriented environment Ability to write procedure and end-user documentation, and conceptualize and implement process improvement.
