Labor & Employment Attorney for Law Firm Overview
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented attorney with a passion for employment law. They will have the ability to advise employers on compliance and workplace practices while also managing litigation from start to finish. This person will be comfortable appearing in court, drafting persuasive motions, and negotiating settlements. They will thrive in a collaborative team environment and be motivated by opportunities to grow professionally within the firm. Responsibilities
Handle all aspects of employment litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and trials. Advise and counsel clients on employment law issues such as workplace policies, compliance, employee relations, and risk management. Draft and review employment-related documents, including contracts, employee handbooks, arbitration agreements, and policies. Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and motions. Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies (e.g., DFEH, EEOC, DLSE). Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations. Collaborate with firm partners and clients to develop strategies tailored to each case. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active member in good standing with the California State Bar. 3–5 years of labor and employment law experience, preferably with both litigation and counseling exposure. Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws and regulations. Trial or arbitration experience is a plus but not required. Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction. Seniority level
