Overview
The Florida Area is looking for a Transmission Leader to support HDR’s Power Delivery Services. This HDR client holds a footprint in 49 states and leads the way in capital infrastructure for various transmission and renewable projects. The primary duty of the Power Delivery Leader includes knowledge and execution of the program set, technical aspects, and deliverables of projects assigned. HDR is seeking a competent engineering lead who understands and can complete technical requirements of projects from moderate to complex. This role includes leading a substation & transmission line team, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring quality control reviews.
The Power Delivery Lead will establish strong client relationships, understand the client’s business objectives, determine effective execution strategies, build local teams, and manage projects within their technical expertise while delivering world-class services.
Responsibilities
Monitor, grow, and participate in the execution of HDR’s portfolio of Power Delivery services throughout Florida and the Southeast region.
Assist regional and national leadership in growing the power delivery program by developing new client programs, enhancing relationships with existing clients, and implementing long-term market strategies.
Develop strong client relationships and serve as a key client manager for selected clients.
Provide technical leadership and project management to ensure appropriate staffing and effective quality programs.
Collaborate with Project Managers to develop and refine Project Execution Plans, including safety, quality management, risk management, communication, staffing, and change management.
Drive consistency across multiple transmission projects regardless of discipline.
Scope projects with PMs and Task Leads, including site visits and interactions with Contractors, Owners, and internal teams.
Identify and mitigate technical risk (staffing skillsets and availability) with EMs, task leads, and HDR technical leads.
Identify and mitigate financial and schedule risk (earned value metrics and change management) with PMs.
Work with teams across multiple projects and offices to develop and implement best practices for transmission line and substation engineering and design.
Oversee program/project setup, reporting, and closeout with PMs.
Direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise junior staff as needed.
Ensure quality control reviews in accordance with HDR’s policy.
Dedicate full-time effort to the program as a subject matter expert.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Business Administration, or related field
Professional Engineering License
PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
PMI Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification
CMAA Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Certification
AICP Certification
Experience with a capital value of $350 million in a transportation/water/resources infrastructure program as part of a consultant or owner program management team
Knowledge of alternative delivery/contract models (P3, DBFOM, EPC)
Experience working in a Program Management Office (PMO) with both consultant and client staff
Willingness to travel and commute to a client site as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or related field
Program management experience aligned with one of the following:
3+ years as deputy to the Program Manager delivering programs with cumulative capital value of $200 million or more, or
5+ years as Project Manager or Project Controls Manager delivering programs with capital value of $200 million or more, or
10+ years of Project Manager experience directing a multi-disciplinary team for at least two projects with capital value of $50 million or more
Strong leadership skills and ability to build a cohesive team across locations
Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to client executives and large audiences
Experience with alternative delivery methods (DB, PDB, CMAR)
Familiar with program management tools (PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, dashboards)
