Job Description
Children's National Hospital in Washington D.C has an open full time Pediatric Epilepsy Advanced Practice Provider Position to join an established multidisciplinary pediatric epilepsy program consisting of board-certified pediatric epileptologists, epilepsy APPs, neurosurgeons, epilepsy dedicated neuropsychologists and child psychiatrists, computational scientists, social work, family support liaison and program coordinator. The role will be to care for children with epilepsy in a specialized epilepsy program through care coordination, contribute to a collaborative work culture and provide innovative care through quality improvement and research. The candidate should have a strong interest in pediatric epilepsy patients. Clinical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, inpatient admission for EEG studies within our Epilepsy monitoring Center as well as outpatient care of children followed in our specialized epilepsy and neurology programs within the center of Neurosciences at Children's National Hospital. Previous adult or pediatric epilepsy experience is preferred. This position will require 2 weekend day shifts per month (Saturdays). Primary location will be DC, with some flexibility for outpatient clinics in our ROCs. Qualifications
Minimum Education Master's Degree Nurse Practitioner Master's or Doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required.
Physician Assistant Master's or Doctoral degree of Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required.
Clinical Nurse Specialist Master's or Doctorate degree in the clinical specialty area in which they practice from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required. Minimum Work Experience 0 years Minimum of 0 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Strong knowledge of clinical specialty and services. Demonstrates clinical leadership skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Required Licenses and Certifications Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Nurse Practitioner 1. Clinical
Assesses, diagnoses, and monitors clinical status of each patient utilizing evidenced based practice and medical knowledge. Develops appropriate plan of care. Writes patient care orders, prescribes therapy, and provides necessary home care orders as needed. Identifies significant changes in patient status using physical exam, lab values, diagnostic tests, and patient/family input. Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings. Performs procedures as needed after obtaining appropriate credentialing. Participates in and/ or leads multidisciplinary patient care. Is a clinical resource for patient, parents and the interdisciplinary team. Appropriately communicates and escalates clinical/administrative issues. Collaborates with nursing, medicine, and other members of the healthcare team to regularly ensure quality patient care. Administrative
Serves as a clinical preceptor to NP, CNS or PA students. Acts as a clinical resource for staff in patient care issues. Provides formal/informal educational presentation to staff on areas of expertise. Participates and leads quality improvement initiatives in their department. Organizational Accountabilities
