Overview Armed Security Protective Officers (SPOs) shall perform all tasks in accordance with the duties outlined within the Post Orders, prepared by the Office of Safety and Security for all shifts on each post. The responsibilities include visual deterrence, policy adherence, access control, screening, and patrol duties as described below.
Responsibilities
Provide visual deterrence against wrongful acts against our client’s employees, customers, and property
Understand company policies and successfully execute post orders
Access Control Package Screening (X-Ray Machine)
Personnel screening (Hand Wands / Magnetometers)
Traffic control and visitor processing
Vehicle inspection
Communications and dispatching
Patrol areas inside and outside of the facility
Emergency and event response
Stand, walk, sit, squat, stretch and bend throughout the workday
Correctly attired in uniform, equipment, and grooming
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to undergo a full background and personal reference check, in accordance with local law/regulations
Capable of making rational and reasonable decisions during tense, uncertain, rapidly evolving situations
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, military police, or professional correctional officer experience
High school diploma or equivalency; collegiate coursework or an AA/AS degree is preferred
Current SPO (Armed) license issued by DC MPD SOMB
Carry a current 9mm semi-automatic pistol, with a Qualified card signed and dated by a certified firearm instructor
Certified to carry and shall carry Pepper Spray
Current CPR/First Aid card issued by American Red Cross or equivalent
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands
SPOs shall be physically able to perform tasks related to duties
Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors
May be required to subdue violent individuals or intervene in a crisis
Physical stamina in all forms (mental, climatic, etc.) is required
Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, and climbing stairs
Education & Certifications
High School Diploma/GED
Associates Degree preferred
DC Armed SPO certification
CPR/American Red Cross certification
Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction
Firearms Qualification
MEB Expandable Baton
OC spray
