Principal Firmware Engineering Manager role at Microsoft. This opportunity is to join the Azure Firmware Center of Excellence and help envision and build technical solutions to power Azure. Lead architecture, design, development and deployment of hardware/firmware security solutions that deliver competitive advantage and scale business growth. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to architect and build scalable, reliable solutions for cloud-scale workloads. Oversee evaluation and selection of 3rd party hardware and security solutions; proactively drive roadmap for next-generation security solutions and ensure successful project delivery. Recruit, manage and mentor a team of developers owning the full product lifecycle from incubation to global production management. Embod y our culture and values. Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Masters in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelors in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience 5+ years of professional experience leading and managing large engineering teams Experience with low-level firmware development, device drivers, or protocol development in Embedded Systems with Rust/C OR equivalent Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate with 5+ years of coding experience OR Master’s with 8+ years of coding experience OR Bachelor’s with 12+ years of coding experience OR equivalent 3+ years of people management experience 1+ year experience leading projects from beginning to end Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills; advanced design and development capabilities Knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud services is a plus Experience with security protocols, HW Root of Trust (RoT) highly regarded MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience Compensation and Benefits

Firmware Engineering M5 – typical base pay range in the U.S. USD 130,900–251,900 per year; location-based ranges apply (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area, NYC).
