Ntropic is a content studio dedicated to the art and craft of strategic visual communications, experiences and creative technology. The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for hands-on managing the day to day finance and accounting operations such as accounts payable and receivable, journal entry, using finance and project management systems, and other finance related matters. The Accountant will report to the CFO with a dotted line to the COO. The Accountant maintains fiscal records, ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of financial statements, and prepares financial data for the CFO and other senior management as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Ensure day to day transactions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipts, credit card reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and payroll are recorded properly Data entry of financial information in Quickbooks, Excel, and NIM (Company internal management system) to manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results Respond to vendor, client, and staff inquires in a professional and timely manner Perform timely and accurate month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (revenue, expenses, payroll allocation, assets and investments), ensuring accounting schedules are updated and accurate Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition and actualize jobs/projects upon completion Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements in a timely manner, including but not limited to Profit and Loss and Balance Sheets, as needed, often on short notice Manage, coordinate, prepare, and conduct integrity review for financial data needed for external audits Monitor cash and perform cash flow forecasting Assist with payroll processing, bonus/commission payments, unemployment filings, and other payroll and 401k related matters as needed Ensure all finance and accounting operations comply with GAAP and federal/state laws and regulations, as well as compliance with relevant administrative and financial regulations and reporting requirements Ensure proper tax filings including but not limited to any City taxes as applicable (SF/LA/NY), City business and license registrations, Unsecured business property taxes, etc. Perform fiscal year end close functions such as 1099 and W2 filings and preparing data and reports for the external accountants for tax preparation Assist CFO and other senior management in developing and monitoring departmental, project, and organizational budgets as well as financial strategies Supervise and oversee any internal and external accounting support Manage various Company insurance policies and matters and ensure adequate coverage is maintained and in compliance with Company needs Ongoing research and implementation of ways to streamline and create efficiencies around finance, accounting, and administrative processes using technology, including training staff to better utilize financial and project management software Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with Company policy and accepted accounting practices Assist with HR support as needed Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as required, often on short notice. This role requires onsite work at the Ntropic office Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Master’s degree or CPA certification a plus 5 to 10 years in business accounting and finance A plus if you have: Experience in the production, advertising, or creative agency related industries Supervisory experience Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in Quickbooks and expertise in Microsoft Excel is required. Familiarity with Bill.com and Fyle a plus. Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and processes is required Experience in the business planning cycle, budgeting process for business, financial analysis, forecasting, profitability analysis, and management of accounts Experience overseeing review and annual audit functions Must have superior business management knowledge, data management, and data analysis skills Must possess solid time management, organizational, and detail oriented skills. Ability to meet deadlines is a must.
