Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Food Security Programs, the CalFresh Program Coordinator independently provides a variety of programs and support services for Basic Needs at UC San Diego. The CalFresh Program Coordinator takes on responsibilities relating to case management, daily operations, and on and off campus partnerships. The incumbent conducts case intake, advising, and intervention, and makes referrals related to food insecurity. The CalFresh Program Coordinator is responsible for application enrollment and management includes pre-screening applicants for program eligibility and participating in the completion of the CalFresh application. Supervises CalFresh student team while managing daily service operations. Guides students in interaction with campus leaders and represents students on these issues when appropriate. Advises student leaders on moderately complex and sensitive issues. Serves as a liaison between the Basic Needs Center and community partnerships. Performs outreach to the UC San Diego student population to promote CalFresh awareness. Responsibilities

Manages the CalFresh program materials procured through research and consultation with community partners, both on and off campus. Compiles statistical information, conducts presentations, and attends collaborative meetings and training for the UC San Diego campus community in support of Basic Needs. Using professional student services theories and concepts, performs a limited range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life program. Works independently to provide information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures, and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and/or program(s). Identifies individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience, with progressive student affairs professional experience and/or direction community involvement with student-initiated services. Knowledge of services and resources available to food insecure students, and experience developing partnerships and cultivating collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituencies including state, location, and national organizations focused on serviced food insecure students. Knowledge of assessment methods and demonstrated understanding of best practices related to student learning outcomes. Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking. Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Understanding of University rules and regulations. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning. Interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Special Conditions

Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results. Overtime and weekends may be required.
