Corporate Services / Tech Consulting / Similar to Innodata Position Overview Our client, a well-established organization in Bergen County, is seeking a sharp, confident, and articulate HR Generalist to support a workforce of approximately 600 employees. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment and has experience building HR functions from the ground up. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. SHRM certification is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Benefits Administration Conduct benefits orientations and manage health, dental, vision, STD/LTD, and vacation cash-out programs. Approve QLEs and verify dependent eligibility. Run monthly Paychex reports (e.g., attrition, leave tracking). Manage leaves across 46 states, including STD/LTD via partnerships with external leave resource providers. Onboarding & Offboarding Oversee onboarding starting with background check and I-9 verification (handled by third-party vendors). Set up employee profiles in HR systems and ensure payroll documentation is complete. Manage offboarding processes including legal compliance for final payouts and involuntary resignations. Employee Relations Handle complaints, conduct investigations, and provide coaching to managers. Advise on disciplinary actions, job abandonment, and performance improvement plans (PIPs). Manage reasonable accommodations and document jury duty and other employee events. Performance Management Lead annual performance review cycles and monitor PIPs. Coach managers on employee development and ensure timely execution of reviews. Leave Administration Administer FMLA, personal leaves, and Unum STD/LTD claims. Ensure compliance with state-specific leave policies and coordinate with external partners. Compliance & Reporting Maintain job posters and manage state PTO policies. Complete new hire state reporting and ensure accuracy in all documentation. HR Operations Collaborate with Finance on wage garnishments and enter data into Paychex. Manage unemployment claims, PTO requests, and administrative tasks such as PPI invoices. Lock payroll system for processing (not responsible for keying or running payroll). Employee Lifecycle Support Handle promotions, transfers, salary changes, and quarterly promotion announcements. Draft and update promotion letters and reflect changes in Paychex. Special Projects Participate in ad hoc HR initiatives and process improvements. Support client-driven HR activities and contribute to building scalable HR processes. International & Remote Work Oversight Manage travel outside the U.S. and out-of-state relocations (exceptions only). Requirements Experience: 5–10 years in a corporate HR environment supporting 100+ employees; startup experience highly valued Certifications: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables); experience with Paychex Communication: Must be articulate, well-spoken, and possess strong writing skills Attributes: Sharp, confident, calm under pressure, and capable of managing multiple priorities Knowledge Areas: Deep understanding of FMLA, reasonable accommodations, performance management, and HR compliance The client offers medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, FSA, and a starting PTO of 15 days. Pay Details:
