Job Summary

Phlebotomist Floater performs daily phlebotomy activities of the Patient Service Center (PSC) or In-office Phlebotomy (IOP) accurately and on time. This role involves assisting with coverage of client locations as needed and requires travel. The Phlebotomist Floater interacts with clients, patients, and other PathGroup personnel in a professional and courteous manner and performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.

Essential Functions

• Travel to client assignments within a designated region with short notice.
• Greet customers appropriately and treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Collect specimens according to established procedures and properly explain the process to patients.
• Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.
• Complete requisitions accurately and enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into the computer.
• Research test/client information utilizing the lab computer system.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and prepare specimens for transport.
• Maintain required records and documentation, including daily records and PSC/IOP Phlebotomy logs.
• Perform basic clerical duties, such as filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and adhere to departmental and company policies.
