Assistant Strength And Conditioning Coach

The Pennington School is seeking a motivated and dedicated Assistant Strength Coach to support the Head Strength Coach in delivering high-quality strength and conditioning programming for our athletic teams. This coach will play a key role in helping student-athletes safely and effectively complete their training sessions, while also monitoring and fostering a positive environment in the fitness center during open gym hours. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring strength and conditioning professional to gain hands-on experience within a structured program while receiving training and mentorship from our Head Strength Coach.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Strength Coach in leading and supervising TPS athletic teams during scheduled strength and conditioning workouts.
  • Monitor the fitness center during open gym hours to ensure safety, proper equipment use, and adherence to school policies.
  • Learn and apply the school’s training system, including progression and regression of movements to fit individual athlete needs.
  • Provide encouragement, motivation, and support to student-athletes to foster performance development and confidence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model, promoting TPS’s values of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Passion for strength and conditioning, athletic development, and working with student-athletes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and implement coaching progressions and regressions under the guidance of the Head Strength Coach.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to fostering a safe and positive training environment.
  • Previous coaching, athletic, or fitness experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

  • Must be available during scheduled hours: Monday–Thursday: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM, Weekends: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (as scheduled, except during school breaks such as Spring and Winter Break).
  • Must successfully complete a New Jersey Board of Education background check prior to employment.

Compensation: $25/hour
