The Hardware and Network Technician provides technical support for computer systems, networks, and related hardware and software. Drives process improvements related to IT, including digital communication and using technology to enhance operations in the plant, such as real-time location updates

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble, configure, and maintain computer systems and associated services.
  • Set up and maintain network operations, including hardware assembly and configuration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common hardware and software problems for users.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and upgrading of IT hardware and software.
  • Work with team members and engineers to ensure the integration of IT systems into operational processes.
  • Install and configure network printing, directory structures, security software, and file services.
  • Provide user support for technical issues through help desk tickets and other support methods.
  • Manage and create user accounts, directories, and security protocols for IT systems.
  • Set up and maintain IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, cellular phones, printers and other frequently used IT hardware.
  • Ability to effectively present information and solutions to users, management, or external groups.
  • Perform routine system maintenance and updates as needed.
  • Implement process improvements in IT systems, focusing on enhancing digital communication and technology use in the plant, such as updating real-time locations of personnel and equipment.
  • Assist in rolling out new technologies that improve the efficiency of communication and operations across the plant.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field; or two or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to groups of employees, management or outside groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Active Directory, DHCP, Network security protocols, IT ticketing systems, Database software, Project management software, Spreadsheet and word processing software. Knowledge of cloud computing, data programming and RFID knowledge is a plus.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
