Overview

Cybersecurity Engineer IV — Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, or Charlotte, NC (Hybrid - 3 days onsite each week).

6-month contract to hire. Pay Range $94.00-99.00/hr.

We are seeking a seasoned Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. This role is focused on firewall management, network security, and secure connectivity across a global environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in Palo Alto firewalls and Zscaler, paired with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work directly with end users.

Responsibilities

• Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls in a large enterprise environment.
• Support and configure Zscaler Private Access and Internet Access.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues (firewall-related and general).
• Perform packet analysis (e.g., TCP three-way handshake) to identify successful vs. unsuccessful connections.
• Field and implement firewall policy change requests.
• Exposure to IDS/IPS functions on Palo Alto and ExtraHop.
• Support Cloudflare DDoS management.
• Collaborate with end users to resolve security-related access issues.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of cybersecurity/network engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and core concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (must-have).
• Experience with Zscaler (Private Access preferred; Internet Access a plus).
• Familiarity with cloud security concepts (AWS preferred; Azure familiarity beneficial).
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Bonus Skills

• IDS/IPS experience (Palo Alto, ExtraHop).
• Broader multi-cloud experience.
• Familiarity with Cloudflare DDoS protections.
