Overview
Dock Worker/Yard Truck Operator role at Comfort Research. The Dock Worker is responsible for movement, organization, and preparation of materials for shipping and receiving, while operating a yard truck to move trailers as needed. This role involves handling products by hand, stacking boxes, labeling items, loading or unloading trucks, and safely transporting trailers in the yard to support a smooth warehouse and yard workflow.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the core values of Comfort Research in daily actions, task execution, and interactions with others.
- Safely move incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring items are handled carefully to prevent damage and loading/unloading is completed efficiently to meet schedules.
- Occasionally operate a yard truck to move trailers as directed, ensuring safe and accurate placement to support shipping and receiving operations.
- Arrange materials in an orderly and accessible manner, maintaining proper inventory placement for production, shipping, or checks.
- Apply correct labels to all items to support quality control and inventory accuracy.
- Prepare and position materials in designated areas based on work orders or schedules.
- Follow safety guidelines and company protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain efficiency in production processes to help meet daily output goals.
- Perform housekeeping duties to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the work area.
- Cross-train on various warehouse functions and rotate through tasks as needed.
- Support the Production team in shared goals and initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior warehouse or material handling experience preferred but not required.
- Previous yard truck or trailer spotting experience preferred (training may be provided).
- Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes and materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to read and understand job aids and other instructional material printed in English preferred.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform frequent twisting, lifting, turning, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
Compensation and Schedule
- Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday
- Pay Schedule: Weekly
- Starting Pay: $17.00/hr
