Our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in their pharmacy by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. As a Staff Pharmacist, you are at the forefront of delivering our purpose, modeling our values, and demonstrating genuine, authentic care for our patients. In addition to supporting the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team, you are accountable for supporting the management, oversight, and operation of all aspects within your pharmacy.
Responsibilities
- Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
- Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts without overlap, including strengthening pharmacy performance measures through coaching and follow-up with the pharmacy team
- Assumes Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty
- Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following— and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation
- Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, and coaching the team to do the same; collaborating with the patient’s total healthcare team and resolving insurance and/or medication issues
- Proactively offering and delivering immunizations; engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
- Supporting effective pharmacy inventory management with a focus on protecting cold chain products
- Partnering with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalating issues as needed
- Maintaining scheduling flexibility and contributing to a safe, inclusive team dynamic; assisting with creating the pharmacy schedule as directed
- Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills; completing required trainings and CMEs
- Supporting access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible; empowering the team to provide holistic care
- Adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and CVS policies; protecting patient privacy and maintaining a safe workplace
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Essential Functions
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, switch between tasks as needed, ensure prescription information and labeling accuracy
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively assist others and support patient needs
- Communication Skills: clear verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues; active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: perform basic calculations for prescriptions and inventory
- Issue Resolution: handle challenging interactions and determine best course of action
- Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive motion, visual acuity, and ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work at other locations across the market as needed

Pay Range
The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $65.00 - $65.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
