Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for operating a forklift and other material handling equipment for the purpose of shipping, receiving, and picking. Activities may include but are not limited to loading or unloading, scanning, moving, staging, replenishing, and stacking product. This individual is also responsible for counting and inspecting product and notifying leadership when there are damages or discrepancies. These Associates are accountable for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and will be expected to perform all duties as assigned. As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality. Associates are expected to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.
Responsibilities
- Shipping Responsibilities: using a gas or electric powered forklift to load outbound shipments, move product, and stack products or materials. Load orders efficiently and accurately according to doors and trailers. All shipping functions follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Receiving Responsibilities: using a gas or electric powered forklift to unload inbound shipments, move, replenish, stack and store products. Locate and place products in appropriate storage areas. All receiving functions follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Picking Responsibilities: using a gas or electric powered forklift to accurately pick orders, stage in appropriate areas, and assist with packaging, labeling, and client requirements as defined by procedures.
- Quality Control Responsibilities: verify products and orders meet quality standards, report damages or discrepancies, and follow documented procedures for handling, stacking, packaging, and labeling.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: execute safety protocols, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and comply with SOPs, corporate and site policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
- Equipment Operation: operate equipment such as sit-down/stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, Aisle Master, or pallet jacks; maintain and report equipment issues; perform daily inspections and minor maintenance; maintain active forklift certification.
- Maintenance: perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Other Duties: perform other duties as assigned and work overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: as applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience
- Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 6 months experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment.
- Able to operate MHE.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
- Other
- Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months (range from mild to moderate).
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Mathematical Skills: Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties.
- Other: Strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: 1-3 years in warehouse/logistics, 1-3 years forklift experience, and current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
Occasionally, Frequently, Constantly labeled duties apply: include bending, walking, standing, lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling with reach above shoulder, outward reach, squatting, or kneeling.
Work Environment
While performing duties, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals is rare. Noise level is usually low to moderate.
