Job Description
The College of Engineering at North Carolina State University is seeking an Accountant for the College of Engineering Central Business Office. This position will develop and manage the financial and electronic processing infrastructure needed to effectively maintain the integrity of the COE Enhancement Fee.
The position will also help manage newly received state appropriated funds from the state legislature for Engineering Expansion. Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Monitoring & Analysis (30%): approving financial transactions, preparing reports, and advising units on fund allocation.
- Decision Making (30%): independently resolving complex issues, developing recommendations, and serving as a resource for non-standard challenges.
- Professional Knowledge (20%): applying advanced accounting principles to analyze unique issues and adapt to Engineering Expansion needs.
- Communications (20%): collaborating with program leaders, conveying complex information clearly, and refining processes based on feedback.
Other responsibilities include serving as backup for College personnel as needed and working with the Assistant Dean on reporting requests.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Other Required Qualifications: Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials or similar software, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, effective time management and organizational skills, ability to understand University spending guidelines, and ability to analyze issues and recommend solutions.
