The Finance Office in the College of Engineering oversees the strategic management of financial resources to support innovative research, education, and outreach. We ensure fiscal integrity and compliance while enabling the college’s mission to advance engineering solutions for societal impact.
Job Duties
This position serves as an Accountant for the College of Engineering Central Business Office. This position will develop and manage the financial and electronic processing infrastructure needed to effectively maintain the integrity of the COE Enhancement Fee. The position will also help manage newly received state appropriated funds from the state legislature for Engineering Expansion.
Financial Monitoring & Analysis (30%) involves approving financial transactions and preparing reports to ensure compliance and integrity for the Enhancement Fee and State Appropriated Engineering Expansion projects, while advising units on fund allocation to directly support COE students.
Decision Making (30%) entails independently resolving complex issues for these funding sources, developing recommendations, and serving as a resource for non-standard challenges.
Professional Knowledge (20%) requires applying advanced accounting principles to analyze unique issues, articulate spending guidelines, and adapt to Engineering Expansion needs.
Communications (20%) focuses on collaborating with program leaders to assess financial needs, conveying complex information clearly to college personnel, and refining processes based on feedback to ensure efficient policy communication across all levels.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials or similar software.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other Google Documents (or similar software).
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to understand University spending guidelines related to various funding sources.
- Ability to analyze issues and recommend defend-able solutions where no precedent exists.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
