Description JOB TITLE: Database Manager POSITION NUMBER: 2510-CORVD-DM POSITION LOCATION: Atlanta, GA, USA ANTICIPATED START DATE: 2 weeks after candidate identification TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position IHRC Inc. seeks a dedicated and experienced Database Manager to support our clients at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD). CORVD’s mission is to provide the health of people by preventing illness, disability and death from respiratory viruses through public health science and practice in the United States and globally. This position is needed for accomplishing CORVD’s mission. Responsibilities
Serve as a Database Manager for the MIS national surveillance system. Validate and clean clinical data and formulate descriptive tables using epidemiological principles. Maintain communication with NCIRD leadership, internal partners, and federal/state health departments. Develop documentation such as SOPs and analysis plans to ensure project continuity. Merge, build, and manage data pipelines using cloud technologies including Palantir Foundry, PySpark, Microsoft Azure, SAS, and others. Oversee clinical data reporting streams including data collection, integration, augmentation, and quality control. Perform data analysis and provide statistics for CDC data products using tools like Power BI, Tableau, and R Studio. Write PySpark code to automate data pipelines and generate analytic datasets. Present scientific findings at conferences and participate in team-building and planning retreats. Assist with data management for other surveillance platforms including data validation, quality reporting, and correspondence with site PIs. Requirements
BA/BS with 3+ years’ experience, MS with 0–7+ years’ experience, or PhD with 0–3+ years’ experience Desired Qualifications
Work experience in managing databases, processing, and integrating datasets (preferably in a public health setting); Work experience in cloud technologies including but not limited to Palantir Foundry (i.e., DCIPHER/HHS Protect), PySpark, Microsoft Azure based products (i.e., Databricks, Data Factory, SQL Server), Desktop SAS, SAS Viya, Posit Cloud, Microsoft Power Platform, Amazon Web Service Technologies, performing checks for data quality and duplication, and preparing updates for the website and other reports; Experience in data architecture, system analysis, SQL, relational databases, distributed data; Expertise in programming languages in SAS/R/Python/PySpark; Ability to work in REDCap, Palantir Foundry (DCIPHER), NNDSS/NNAD data, Databricks and Excel; Expertise in data visualization software such as PowerBI or Tableau; Experience in descriptive analysis and writing reports on data quality; Knowledge of and experience working with clinical data; Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Mail); Ability to identify gaps in existing resources; Ability to be flexible; Interpersonal communication: telephone, email, and business etiquette; Strong proofreading skill and attention to detail; Strong organizational skills; Experience working with CDC staff at multiple organizational levels. Language Skills
The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English Other Requirement
