We are expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, strong technical understanding, and the drive to take Amazon Data Center Operations to the next level. The successful candidate will have experience managing people with varying skillsets, devising strategies, mentoring across levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we are looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost. Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators Manage the performance of a diverse team of data center operation professionals across multiple locations Develop career paths for employees and update internal tools Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels Manage day-to-day data center operations including queue management, 24/7 shift arrangement, and hardware logistics Act as subject matter expert across all aspects of data center operations Ensure operational KPIs and metrics are measured and met Drive process improvements, technology innovation, and automation Manage large-scale events (outages) and act as the call leader Improve workflows and throughput for data center operations Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and SLAs Maintain on-call schedule coordinating absences and vacations Maintain a strong focus on service quality and customer experience Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of professional or military experience in an IT-related field 2+ years of experience managing people in a technical environment 2+ years of experience with networking or computer hardware 2+ years of experience participating in on-call rotations and providing after-hours support in a 24/7 environment Preferred Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of Linux systems administration Networking experience and knowledge of cabling best practices In-depth hardware architectures knowledge and troubleshooting experience Experience with system management tools and client/server environments Prior project management experience and technical writing experience Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,700/year to $158,000/year depending on location and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company; additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and other benefits.
