Overview
Peer Support Specialist, Enhanced Adult Mental Health Services (EAMHS) provides a variety of recovery-oriented services to individuals enrolled in early intervention and transition age youth programs who self-identify as desiring peer supports. The Peer Support Specialist promotes greater independence, community integration, and recovery. Peers (people who have lived experience with mental health treatment and hold Peer Support certification) offer supports, services and advocacy to help clients engage in ongoing treatment and work toward less dependence on traditional mental health treatment. These activities involve significant others and natural supports in the person’s treatment to positively impact recovery. Pay/Benefits:
$22.74 starting hourly pay plus full benefits. Location:
Based out of LifeWorks NW’s Rockwood site. Responsibilities
Use a person-centered approach to create and implement a Peer-Assisted Wellness Recovery Plan tailored to the individual’s needs. Model recovery principles by using personal experiences and training to support greater independence, wellness, and self-determination. Help clients identify and utilize natural community supports to decrease reliance on the traditional mental health system. Collaborate with clients to develop wellness and recovery goals aligned with what they want for their lives. Share experiences of recovery as appropriate to guidance and training received. Work with clients on specific, obtainable goals included in the person’s Individualized Service and Support Plan (ISSP). Provide support to clients experiencing symptoms that could lead to hospitalization; tasks may include grocery shopping, meal preparation, or spending time with clients until they feel secure enough to be on their own. Assist clients in accessing community resources such as food boxes, healthcare appointments, and other services as appropriate. Support clients in maintaining medication compliance; may deliver medications, make reminder calls, and conduct home visits to ensure adherence. Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment. Meet standards defined in performance evaluations for client care, quality/customer service, attendance/punctuality, and teamwork. Educate and advocate for Peer Delivered Services and the Recovery Model. Complete Service Activity Logs (S/ALs) on a timely basis. Qualifications
Self-identifies as a current or former recipient of mental health services. Holds a State-approved Peer Support Specialist certification. Demonstrates effective communication skills and the ability to provide culturally competent treatment services to diverse client populations. Familiar with developmental needs of adults. Basic computer skills including keyboarding, using a mouse, navigating websites, and using common web browsers. Transportation of clients in a personal vehicle may be required; requires a valid driver’s license, proof of current automobile insurance, and verification of a safe driving record from the DMV.
