Job Description and Duties
The position is headquartered in Sacramento. Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I (ITM I) Information Security Officer (ISO), the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) serves as a cybersecurity advisor and provides technical security expertise to the ISO as the Assistant Information Security Officer (Asst. ISO). The Asst. ISO implements and maintains security governance and the associated frameworks and processes. The Asst. ISO supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity policy, training, risk and compliance management, incident response and technology recovery planning, evaluation and implementation of security controls, audit planning and reporting, security assessments, and the security awareness training platform and processes. The role also involves sustaining cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders. Special requirements include a duty statement and a 3 percent salary reduction as part of PLP 2025. Serve as cybersecurity advisor to the ISO and assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security governance and frameworks. Contribute to risk and compliance management, incident response, and technology recovery planning. Evaluate and implement security controls; participate in audit planning and reporting; conduct security assessments. Support security policy training and the organization’s security awareness programs. Develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with stakeholders. Qualifications
New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Placement to alternate range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application. Those interested must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s). Foreign transcripts may require evaluation. Official transcripts may be requested upon appointment. Examination information indicates that applicants must apply and compete through the State recruitment process.
