As a Turbopump Responsible Engineer II you will help determine the direction for the Hadley turbopump product line. You will be a key member responsible for owning product volume production and high operational (flight) cadence while managing continuous improvement and product reliability enhancement initiatives. You will be an active voice in engine test and development as well as flight ops. This position requires on-site presence at our facility in Berthoud, CO. You will report to the Director of Turbomachinery.
Responsibilities
Be the Responsible Engineer (RE) for the Hadley turbo pump assembly taking complete ownership of it. Design modification of existing components and prototypes to improve performance or resolve limitations. You will help lead turbomachinery-related root-cause analysis efforts. You will help to ensure our Hadley turbopumps meet all system level requirements. You will collaborate with the manufacturing, analysis, and test teams to reduce part-to-part variation and discrepancies to improve product performance and yield. Assembly of first article prototypes. Definition of clear communication process between design, manufacturing, and test operations to ensure products meets all specifications. Required Qualifications
Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. 2+ years experience in design, development and testing in a hardware focused organization. Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment. Experience with general design practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5. Working knowledge of thermodynamics and mechanical design practices Demonstrated ability to deliver a challenging project Experience in root-cause analysis Desired Skills And Experience
2+ years’ experience in turbomachinery design, development, and testing. Experience operating in ISO 9001 or AS9100 certified organizations. Demonstrated success as project lead. Working knowledge of thermodynamics of incompressible flows and cryogenic fluids. Demonstrated proficiency with basic principles of design for additive manufacturing Liquid propellant rocket engine design, test, or analysis Experience with structural and thermal analysis using Ansys FEA software Experience of 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation in CAD Work Environment
On-site in Berthoud, Colorado. Relocation assistance provided. Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $110,000- $130,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
