Accounting Specialist
to support finance operations. Position Overview: The Accounting Specialist role involves managing cash receipts, assisting with escrow and accounts payable activities, and providing general support across the accounting department. The position requires the candidate to be highly organized; able to collaborate with the team; committed to quality and customer service; and able to prioritize their assignments. Responsibilities
Record all incoming cash receipts, including checks, lockbox payments, credit card transactions, ACH transfers, and wire payments, and investigate unidentified cash receipts to ensure proper allocation. Support clients with payment processing by sending secure LawPay links via email or handling credit card transactions over the phone. Respond to inquiries from clients and Attorneys related to payment details and account status. Reverse and reallocate cash receipts when necessary to ensure accurate financial records and process write-offs for minor short payments in accordance with policy. Collaborate with Attorneys to research and resolve unapplied cash and escrow balances, including applying funds or coordinating refunds, and assist with annual unclaimed property reporting. Review disbursements coded as prospective, follow up with Legal Administrative Assistants to confirm correct client/matter numbers, and process transfers accordingly. Serve as the primary backup for escrow transactions, including processing deposits and disbursement checks. Assist accounts payable with invoice entry, check processing, and monthly credit card reconciliation. Provide support in other areas of the accounting department as needed and with projects assigned by the Controller or Director of Finance. Additional duties as assigned to support the department. This position may require occasional overtime. Qualifications
Minimum of two years of experience in an accounting role at a professional services firm Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices Experience working with Aderant and proficiency in Excel a plus Strong attention to detail and accuracy Reliable with excellent organizational and time-management skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment Ability to maintain confidentiality Salary Range : $50,000 to $70,000 annually Equal Employment Opportunity : Gordon Feinblatt is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
