The Division of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science (BIDS) within the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (HOBI) at the University of Florida (UF) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist II with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to an interdisciplinary research environment focused on developing innovative data science solutions for healthcare and biomedical research. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, trainees, and research staff to design and implement analytical pipelines, apply advanced AI/ML methods, and support projects leveraging large-scale clinical and real-world data, including electronic health records (EHRs), medical imaging, and unstructured clinical text. Key responsibilities include: Develop methods and tools to effectively use electronic health record (EHR) data; apply AI/ML methods to solve critical clinical and biomedical problems. Implement methods into software that meets research needs, manage and update source codes as needed. Lead and participate in the design, implementation, and reporting of research and evaluation studies. Contribute to scientific reports, conference papers, journal articles, and grant proposals. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field and three years of experience; Master's Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field and one year of experience; Doctoral Degree in data science, statistics, bioinformatics, analytics, or similar field. Strong programming and data analysis skills (e.g., Python, R) Solid understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and data modeling techniques Preferred Qualifications: Prior working experience with EHR data, machine learning, deep learning, imaging informatics, and large language models (LLM) Experience with popular ML packages (e.g., PyTorch, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Pandas, Keras, NumPy, SciPy) Excellent formal and interpersonal communication skills The University of Florida is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all qualified individuals.
