Central California, United States Relocation : Yes; from within the Continental United States Overview Security Management Resources has opened a recruitment project for a Director, Security and Risk Management. This newly established role will plan and implement a comprehensive security operations program for a leading medical complex in California. You will be responsible for the oversight of a department that currently comprises over 150 team members. This position is a wonderful opportunity for someone who has senior-level management experience gained from a combination of both public and private sector employment. Our client is looking for an individual with outstanding relationship management skills who can quickly adapt to their dynamic and distinctive work environment. As the senior-most security role in the organization, this position is viewed as on call and ready to respond quickly to any incidents. Candidates should be fluent in English, and proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Evaluate, select, and implement programs and processes to support the security function’s strategic direction while ensuring day-to-day operations align with the organization’s philosophical and operational goals. Research and put physical security systems and technologies in place to safeguard facilities, employees, and customers in current locations and future facilities. Oversee security incident response planning to enable decisive and effective actions to security breaches, serving as a liaison with law enforcement agencies as necessary. Direct the activities of the access control and emergency communications center in accordance with government regulations. Collaborate with internal committees and advise on shared best practices for the implementation of enterprise-wide security standards. Develop training programs designed to raise awareness of, and ensure adherence to, compliance standards. Conduct investigations and work to resolve issues that address legal and regulatory complaints. Build relationships with external law enforcement entities, public emergency services, and peer networks to evaluate intelligence regarding any potential risks, threats, or vulnerabilities. Requirements, Experience, Skills, and Competencies A university degree in a relevant field with additional and/or ongoing professional development. Deep knowledge of security policies and procedures gained by experience across public and private sector roles. Leadership of security operations across multiple, diverse facilities, preferably within a healthcare setting. Knowledge of regulatory requirements that relate to healthcare security and patient rights. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively and empathetically navigate a wide variety of circumstances and influence without authority. Exhibit a senior leadership presence yet be approachable with the capacity to provide a calming and steady influence during potentially challenging situations. Seniority level
