Finatal is partnered with a Top Tier Private Equity firm in search of a Corporate Controller for a Chicago-based Construction Services portfolio company ($200M revenue). As the Corporate Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls in a high growth, acquisitive company. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely financial information, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting decision-making processes within the organization. Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; ensure GAAP compliance and relevant regulatory requirements; ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes; coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit, address audit findings, and serve as the primary contact for auditors and tax advisors. Accounting Operations: Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and maintain supporting documentation. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and monitor the annual budget and forecasting process; provide financial analysis and insights to support budget development and variance analysis; monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and explain variances. Internal Controls and Risk Management: Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy; assess and mitigate financial risks, identify control deficiencies, and implement corrective actions; stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance and recommend adjustments. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis; foster continuous improvement, professional development, and collaboration; conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback. Mergers and Acquisitions: Participate in evaluation of potential investments, mergers, and acquisitions; provide financial due diligence and integration support; coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure seamless financial integration; execute purchase price allocation and other business combination accounting; oversee consolidation of financial statements for post-acquisition entities and harmonize reporting across acquired entities. Strategic Financial Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). CPA designation is required. Proven experience as a Corporate Controller or similar senior-level accounting role, preferably within the construction or building industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards; deep understanding of accounting operations, internal controls, and risk management. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail. Strong leadership abilities with the capability to build and motivate high-performing teams; team-oriented mindset. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong ethics and integrity, with a commitment to confidentiality and compliance.
