Overview
The Financial Controller is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting activities as well as analyzing, advising and reporting on financial results. As a vital member of the management team, the Controller must lead an effective accounting department, ensure compliance, and furnish stakeholders with key information. Responsibilities
Effective oversight of all accounting activities and functions – including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition Oversee, hire, train, and mentor skilled accounting staff Manage month-end close process to ensure an accurate and on-time monthly close Review, manage and maintain reconciliation processes for all balance sheet accounts Evaluate, update, and maintain strong internal controls and related processes Understand financial results and explain variances to prior year, annual plan, and forecast; provide input on Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly reporting presentations Responsible for salesperson commission calculation and benefit reporting and reconciliation Responsible for external audit support and activities with auditors Support cash flow forecasting, covenant compliance, annual budget, and periodic forecast processes Manage / Review Payroll Process – ensure employees are paid properly and it is accounted for correctly Other projects as assigned Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related business field (required) Masters of Business (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) (preferred but not required) Minimum 7-10 years of corporate accounting experience; proven experience as a Financial Controller (or similar role) in a smaller/medium sized company Proficient with accounting software (Microsoft BC experience preferred, but others acceptable) People management and development Senioriry level
