Overview
The main purpose of this role is to work with our accounting group to produce accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external use. The Accounting Manager - General will be responsible for the accounting for Payroll, Venue Revenue, Liability & Medical insurance, Prepaids, Concur and various expense accruals in accordance with applicable accounting standards as well as many other corporate and site accounting processes. This position will manage a Lead Accountant, two Sr. Accountants, one Staff Accountant and will review their work to ensure accuracy. The Manager will provide accounting support during the quarterly and annual external audits and will work directly with the external auditors. This position will also interact with corporate and site level associates and external customers to assist with financial information communication. We are looking for someone who can manage a team, work with fairly minimal oversight and can work well with other teams. Responsibilities
Responsible for the proper revenue recognition related to venue point of sale and other revenue streams including leagues, reservations, academy, summer fun pass and bundles. Also properly recording the deferred portions of these revenue streams. Manage a team of one Lead Accountant, two Sr. Accountants and one Staff accountant. Manage and review the accrual process for various expense accruals, including worker’s comp and general liability insurance, AP invoices, pending p-card transactions, utilities and other occupancy related accounts. Manage and review the Payroll accounting process, to include the recording of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, PTO accruals and all commissions and bonus accruals. Review monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting. Analyze and review various types of venues and corporate transactions for financial completeness and accuracy. Prepare presentations for management as needed. Review payment application received to open invoice amounts and various checks received. Participate in monthly meetings with National Directors of Operations and their associated region of venues. Support quarterly reviews and annual audits, including schedule preparation and fulfilling sample selection requests. Work with the accounting team to implement process and control improvements in accordance with SOX. Qualifications
Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance or Business Management (Required) CPA (Preferred) 4+ years related professional experience in an accounting function with supervisory experience (Required) Minimum 5 years experience in a large or publicly traded company (Required) 3+ years' auditing experience at a public accounting firm (Preferred) 3+ years' experience working with SEC registrants is a plus (Preferred) Experience working with SAP or other large ERP system (Required) In-depth understanding of GAAP and the ability to research and apply technical accounting issues to recording financial results An intermediate to advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word and Excel (Required) Strong organizational and communication skills essential to success Ability to work with various and multiple software and reporting systems Ability to train and coach direct reports Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple simultaneous projects and tasks Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and projects Communicate effectively with management, coworkers and external auditors Senioriry level
