Overview
LHH partnered with a local construction company that is targeting their next Controller. The Controller is responsible for providing financial leadership, oversight, and guidance for the organization’s international construction projects. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with international accounting standards, while supporting project teams with strategic financial insights to drive successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all financial aspects of international construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial analysis. Develop, monitor, and report on project cost controls, ensuring alignment with contractual agreements and organizational objectives. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial reporting in compliance with IFRS/GAAP and local regulatory requirements. Partner with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to provide accurate financial data for decision-making. Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational resources and ensure transparency in project expenditures. Manage project billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow related to construction activities. Collaborate with external auditors, banks, contractors, and regulators to ensure compliance with financial, legal, and contractual obligations. Prepare variance analysis reports and recommend corrective actions when projects deviate from budget or schedule. Oversee financial risk assessments for construction projects, including foreign exchange exposure, tax implications, and country-specific compliance. Support the development of financial policies, systems, and processes to improve efficiency and standardization across global projects. Train and mentor finance staff assigned to construction and project-related accounting functions. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent international qualification preferred. 12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within construction or project-based environments. Proven experience working with international organizations or multinational projects. Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, project accounting principles, and financial controls. Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and MS Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and cultures. Willingness to travel internationally as needed. Compensation details: Competitive salary range $175,000 to $220,000; Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage; Generous PTO: 20+ days annually; Biweekly pay schedule.
