Our banking client seeks a Controller/Sr. Accountant based in the greater Baltimore, MD area. The role involves maintaining the integrity of the Bank's accounting operations, including accurate reporting, record-keeping, creating controls and budgets to mitigate risk, and ensuring compliance. The position offers a salary up to $115K and an excellent benefits package. (Note: This is not a remote role.) Responsibilities include: Preparing and filing the Bank’s Call Report, 10K, 10Q, regulatory, and financial reports timely. Producing periodic financial reports for daily, monthly, and annual monitoring. Maintaining accounting records, controls, and budgets to enhance accuracy and mitigate risk. Ensuring compliance with GAAP or IFRS. Forecasting financial performance and explaining deviations. Collaborating with Department Managers to develop procedures for effective system use. Monitoring procedural compliance. Managing projects related to Finance Operations and other assignments. Developing and delivering training materials and programs. Supervising Finance Operations staff, including hiring, training, and performance reviews. Overseeing daily ledger balancing and reconciliations. Supporting audits and compliance activities. Providing backup for reconciliations. Participating in annual FDIC and other agency audits. Ensuring policy compliance. Maintaining knowledge of Bank products and services. At least five years of comprehensive accounting experience, with a minimum of two managing general ledger and financial reporting. Knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations. Experience in financial control and general ledger management. Prior banking experience preferred. Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, Microsoft Office, and accounting software. Strong decision-making, judgment, and timely decision skills. Ability to motivate others and accept feedback. Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
