Summary:
The Plant Controller is responsible for directing and managing all financial and control functions of the Further Processing and Frozen Product Distribution Plant. This position ensures strict compliance with company policies, financial standards, and food industry regulations while supporting plant leadership in driving efficiency, cost control, and profitability. A key focus of this role is maintaining accurate financial oversight of frozen product processing, inventory, storage, and distribution, with particular attention to cold chain compliance and operational optimization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Oversee the plant’s accounting, reporting, and financial analysis functions. Develop, monitor, and analyze annual budgets, forecasts, and variance reports. Ensure accurate cost accounting, including product costing, inventory valuation, and frozen product distribution expenses. Prepare and present timely financial statements and performance metrics to senior management. Monitor key cost drivers such as energy, refrigeration, transportation, and storage. Controls & Compliance Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets. Ensure compliance with GAAP, company financial policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain strict adherence to food safety, USDA, FDA, and HACCP standards related to frozen product processing and distribution. Support and coordinate external and internal audits, ensuring timely corrective actions. Operational Support & Process Improvement Partner with production and logistics leadership to identify efficiency opportunities and cost-saving initiatives. Provide financial insights to optimize cold storage utilization, distribution routes, and warehouse operations. Support capital investment decisions by preparing ROI analyses and feasibility studies. Track and analyze KPIs across production, warehousing, and frozen product distribution operations. Lead, mentor, and develop the plant’s finance and accounting team. Establish clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration and digitalization of live accounting functions. Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. 5 years previous experience in financial management, ideally in food manufacturing, cold storage, or distribution. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Hands-on experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with food safety and cold chain regulations is highly desirable. Accounting, preferably in the Poultry industry Supervisory Responsibilities:
