McKenney’s, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer – Logistics to join our Logistics team in Atlanta, Georgia. This entry-level position is designed to expose the employee to McKenney’s processes, capabilities, and scope of work within a 12-month rotational program. During rotations, you will support various departments involved in the life cycle of a construction project, including preconstruction, design, virtual construction, fabrication, project management, installation, and the technology processes involved. By the conclusion of the rotations, you will have gained exposure to our business, developed leadership skills, built relationships, and expanded your understanding of the construction industry. After the rotations, you will move into the Logistics department to assist with process improvement and standardization projects and learn the fundamentals of Logistics. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Rotational Experience Detail mechanical systems (ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing) Coordinate McKenney’s work with customers and other trades through the BIM process Estimate projects Interact with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors Work in the field as part of an installation crew Develop and implement technology tools for the business Assist in managing a construction project, including budgeting, scheduling, managing labor and material onsite, and building relationships with customers Develop strong relationships with project managers, foremen, virtual construction team members, field operations, engineers, suppliers, and other trade subcontractors through consistent interaction and communication Logistics Identify process improvement opportunities, assemble teams, and develop new processes within the Logistics division Analyze internal and external performance data to identify gaps in training or communication as they relate to the Tool Room, Warehouse, and Trucking groups Assist internal customers in troubleshooting technology errors and gathering missing information for their projects Own periodic “High Impact Reporting” efforts and assist in gathering subsequent feedback and delivering resulting training Support Logistics software/technology development and assist in long-term prioritization of Logistics technology projects through the Logistics Technology Roadmap Create and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process maps for logistics department processes as required Collect feedback from project teams on logistics performance through site visits and project meetings Assist in additional projects identified by the Logistics Manager, Distribution Manager, Material Handling Manager, and Vice President of Logistics and Manufacturing BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated successful experience in the construction industry Experience with Smartsheet and/or Tableau Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts) Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND CHARACTERISTICS
Strong leadership skills, self-motivation, and the ability to respond quickly to changing customer demands Productive time management to maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals Ability to succeed both independently and collaboratively in a team environment Strong attention to detail and prioritization of the company’s needs to maximize profitability Effective communication across a diverse group of people (PMs, drafting, field staff, fabrication shops, etc.) Solid reasoning, math, science, and technical skills Readiness to take on additional responsibilities as needed and independently manage priorities Exceptional work ethic and project ownership Integrity to uphold company values and demand the highest standards of conduct from self and others Persistence to attain results under adverse circumstances and conflict WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. Work will require construction job site visits. This will require the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs and ladders, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, and the ability to negotiate work areas under construction.
