Overview
Our client is a leading alternative investment manager with over $20 billion in assets under management across private credit and private equity strategies. The firm is in an exciting growth phase, expanding its platform to launch new BDCs and REITs. They are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Fund Controller to join their finance leadership team. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and audit processes for private credit, private equity, BDC, and REIT structures. Manage relationships with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Lead quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and review, including SEC filings for BDCs (10-Q, 10-K) and REITs (Form 10-Q, 10-K, and supplemental reporting). Support the launch and structuring of new investment vehicles, ensuring appropriate accounting and operational infrastructure is in place. Implement and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to support fund operations and investor reporting. Coordinate with the investor relations team to deliver timely and accurate reporting to LPs and shareholders. Partner with portfolio management, legal/compliance, and operations teams to support transaction execution and ongoing investment monitoring. Stay current on accounting, regulatory, and tax developments affecting alternative investment funds, BDCs, and REITs. Mentor and develop junior finance team members. Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus). 10-15+ years of experience in fund accounting, reporting, or audit. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP; experience with BDCs or REITs helpful. Background in private credit or private equity is preferred. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Clear communicator and team player.
