SHR Talent is partnering with a client in Fairfax, VA in its search for a Senior Tax Accountant to join a growing CPA firm. The Senior Tax Accountant role offers the opportunity to work directly with a variety of closely held businesses and individual clients on complex tax matters. As the Senior Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, engaging in proactive tax planning, and maintaining direct communication with clients of various sizes. The Senior Tax Accountant opportunity is ideal for candidates with a strong background in public accounting tax, looking to grow in a collaborative environment with exposure to challenging work during busy season and rewarding client relationships year-round. Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals Assist in tax planning strategies for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals Communicate directly with clients to address tax questions, resolve issues, and build long-term relationships Research and analyze complex tax issues, ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations Supervise and mentor junior staff on tax engagements and workflow management Manage multiple projects and deadlines, particularly during peak busy season periods Utilize tax software to efficiently process and review returns Collaborate with firm partners and managers to deliver high-quality client service Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required Minimum of 2+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, highly preferred, or actively pursuing Experience working with closely held businesses, individuals, and clients of various sizes Strong technical tax knowledge and ability to apply tax laws to complex client situations Proficiency with tax software and experience with CCH Axcess, preferred Benefits: Medical insurance, Vision insurance, 401(k), Disability insurance Get notified about new Tax Accountant jobs in Fairfax, VA.
