Overview
The
Senior Accountant
plans and monitors the completion of book close processes and financial reports in a deadline-focused environment, while ensuring that issues are escalated as needed. This role will use increasing expertise to process detailed information with high levels of accuracy and to research and apply accounting policy. The Senior Accountant must communicate effectively with other units and management to plan work, gather information, and present results. They will also lead efforts to continuously improve processes to produce relevant financial reports in the fastest, most efficient means possible. Responsibilities
Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Prepare monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry. Process payment invoices and expense reimbursement when needed. Research and analyze P&L budget to actual variances and analyze P&L trends. Provide financial analysis and interpretation to senior management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and insights, facilitating cross-functional decision-making. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations. Address inquiries and provide explanations regarding financial matters to internal and external parties. Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process. Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly; resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis. Contribute to developing automated SOX controls, maintaining SOX compliance, and holding control owners accountable. Assist with variable compensation calculations, accruals, plan design, and approval process. Maintain and continuously develop understanding of NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce, financial reporting platforms such as Looker and Tableau, all accounting systems, and more. Optimize the use of the software and tools the Company has purchased to increase automation & efficiency; research new tools when applicable considering financial responsibility/budget. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. Other duties as assigned that bring value to the company. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience. Experience in accounting for a public company preferred. Thorough understanding of US GAAP and SOX. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization. Strong leadership skills with dedication to driving and achieving results. Experience with NetSuite, Blackline, Zuora, Salesforce, Tableau, and Looker preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
