Introduction

Join our team as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant within the Division of Personnel Management. This position will provide HR support to Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC), one of seven facilities managed by the Department of Health Services (DHS) .

We are recruiting for a Limited Term Employment (LTE) HR Assistant willing to work daytime hours Monday - Friday, up to 30 hours per week. Hours will be flexible to the extent that operational needs are met.

This position will work from SWC, located in Union Grove WI. This position will work from the office with the possibility for a limited hybrid remote work schedule in the future as allowed by the needs of the business unit.

LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position and do not lead to permanent status. Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions. No more than 1039 hours may be worked in a 12-month year. Position Summary

The HR Assistant LTE is responsible for providing a wide variety of complex HR program support activities including helping with recruitment efforts for SWC. Duties include assisting in filling vacancies and providing HR administrative support. This position will interpret SWC and DHS policies and procedures, State of Wisconsin HR Handbook Chapters, state statutes, and administrative codes governing HR functions. The incumbent in this position must operate with a high degree of confidentiality. Additionally, strong communication (oral and written) and organizational skills are essential to be successful in this role.

Salary Information

The starting salary is between $27.00 - $29.25 per hour, depending on experience. This is an LTE appointment and is limited to 1039 hours in a year.

This position is classified as an HR Assistant - Advanced and is in pay schedule and range 81/04.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DOA to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Employees at SWC will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date. DOA does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:

Experience performing administrative duties within an office setting (e.g. scheduling interviews or meetings, drafting documents, reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy and completion, responding to emails, etc.). Experience using computer-based applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, etc.). Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following:

Formal HR training (e.g. coursework, certifications, etc.). Experience using a human resources information system (HRIS) to enter HR transactions. Experience performing human resources administrative duties (e.g. posting positions to job boards or creating job/vacancy ads, preparing applicant materials, communicating with applicants, filing or uploading personnel documents, etc.).
