Material Handler Supervisor
to manage the flow, storage, and distribution of materials on our shop floor. This role ensures production targets and inventory accuracy are met while fostering a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment. Responsibilities: Team Supervision Assign tasks, develop work schedules, and coach a team of material handlers. Provide training, performance feedback, and career development guidance. Develop and maintain a culture of teamwork, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Inventory Management Monitor inventory levels and conduct cycle counts to reconcile discrepancies. Maintain accurate stock records using Warehouse Management Software (WMS) and ERP systems. Generate inventory reports and recommend corrective actions. Material Flow Coordination Coordinate the receipt, staging, and movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. Collaborate with production planners and logistics to ensure just-in-time delivery of materials. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in material handling processes. Safety & Compliance Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety protocols for material handling and equipment operation. Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations. Oversee lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Equipment Oversight Supervise the safe operation and routine inspection of forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the Maintenance team. Ensure all operators are properly trained and certified. Process Improvement Analyze material handling workflows and implement Lean Manufacturing techniques. Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, order cycle time, and equipment utilization. Requirements Education High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred. Experience 2–5 years of supervisory experience in leadership of material handling, warehousing, or manufacturing. Proven track record of managing inventory accuracy, production support, and team performance. Skills & Technical Knowledge Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills. Proficiency with WMS, ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and BIM 360 (or equivalents). In-depth understanding of inventory control principles and warehouse operations. Certifications (Preferred) Forklift operator certification. Supply chain or warehousing certifications (e.g., CPIM, CSCP). OSHA 10-Hour General Industry safety training. Personal Attributes Team builder, team player. Results-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
