Overview WSP is seeking a full-time Early Career Civil Transportation Engineer for our Seattle, WA office. Be involved in exciting and innovative projects with the Pacific Mountain West Transportation Engineering Team and contribute to the design, development, and construction of transportation infrastructure in public and private sectors. Learn from experts and contribute to the most important transportation projects in the region. Tasks may include research, design, concept development, and construction support.

Responsibilities

Assist and support design teams in the execution of project delivery.

Provide technical input during various stages of projects, including preliminary design, final design, construction and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications.

Perform basic design tasks and drawings using CAD tools to develop conceptual transportation projects in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads/OpenRoads and/or MicroStation.

Perform standard computations and analysis.

Discuss and propose solutions to technical issues.

Collect data and gather information or documents.

Bring fresh ideas and innovative ways to solve problems.

Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members.

Develop memorandums and other written technical documents.

Maintain positive team relationships and contribute to a collaborative culture.

Assist and coordinate with key staff across disciplines (e.g., drainage, structures) as required.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.

0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience.

Engineer in Training Certification (or ability to obtain one in 6 months).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Self-starter with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic work environment.

Desire to learn and develop skill set.

Passion for improving transportation systems.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Uphold workplace safety and abide by WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads).

Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

Active participation in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation and Benefits

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life; retirement savings; paid sick leave; paid vacation; paid parental leave; and paid time off for bereavement, voting, and naturalization proceedings.

Compensation: Estimated salary range for all locations: $56,300 - $92,900. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range based on experience, equity, and location.
