About the Role
The Operations Director, Child Nutrition will oversee the operational execution of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) across all KIPP Texas regions. This leader will directly supervise regional leads, ensuring the highest standards of meal service, compliance, and efficiency. The role requires quarterly travel to each region and regular attendance at professional conferences throughout the school year. Role Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
– Directly supervise and develop regional Child Nutrition leads, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Leadership & Team Management
– Serve as the primary operational liaison between the Senior Director and regional teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment with KIPP Texas’s mission and goals. Leadership & Team Management
– Lead regular meetings and professional development for regional leads, sharing best practices and driving consistency across regions. Operational Oversight
– Ensure daily meal service operations (breakfast, lunch, snack, supper) are executed reliably and in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Operational Oversight
– Identify, implement, and monitor process improvements that standardize operations, drive efficiencies, and enhance meal quality and service. Operational Oversight
– Oversee the implementation and adherence to standard operating procedures, policies, and accountability systems. Operational Oversight
– Collaborate with facilities and construction teams to support CNP expansion and operational readiness for new campuses. Performance Management
– Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational excellence, compliance, and participation rates. Performance Management
– Conduct regular site visits and audits to assess program quality and operational fidelity. Performance Management
– Support the Senior Director in managing the annual performance review process for regional leads. Compliance & Reporting
– Ensure all regions maintain full compliance with USDA, TDA, and other regulatory agencies. Compliance & Reporting
– Prepare and submit required operational reports, audits, and documentation in a timely manner. Professional Development & Representation
– Attend and represent KIPP Texas CNP at state and national conferences throughout the school year. Professional Development & Representation
– Stay current with best practices and regulatory changes in school nutrition, sharing relevant updates and training with regional teams. Travel
– Travel quarterly to each KIPP Texas region (Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio) for site visits, training, and operational support. Qualifications

– Willingness to travel regularly and work non-traditional hours as needed. Work Experience
– 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in school nutrition, food service, or related operations. Regulatory Knowledge
– Strong knowledge of USDA/TDA child nutrition program regulations and best practices. Systems & Tools
– Experience implementing operational systems, process improvements, and accountability tools. Technical
– Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and relevant productivity tools. Education
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Work Environment
Reports to school site Monday-Friday. Typical school environment with frequent interruptions. This role is based in the Austin region. Kitchen and cafeteria environments. Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary for this position is $90,000 and placement in the salary range is commensurate upon experience and internal equity.
