Job Summary We are seeking a versatile Test Operations Technician to support the development and qualification of hardware for hypersonic launch systems. In this role, you will operate test systems with pressurized gases, contribute to part fabrication, perform mechanical assembly tasks, collect test data, and prepare reports. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, is skilled with pneumatic systems, hand tools, and shop equipment, and thrives in a hands-on environment. You will work closely with Engineers and the test team to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality test operations.
Responsibilities
Execute assembly tasks in accordance with detailed checklists and procedures for the latest Accelerator Prototype, ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality standards are met
Execute tests in accordance with test plans and safety protocols
Set up and operate pneumatic systems, including regulators, valves, and instrumentation
Support the build, checkout, and troubleshooting of mechanical and fluid systems
Assemble test articles and fixtures using hand and power tools with high precision
Conduct leak checks, functional tests, and safety inspections on test setups
Maintain accurate test records, data logs, and issue reports for engineering review
Participate in test planning meetings and provide feedback for continuous improvement
Support general shop activities, including material prep, organization, and equipment maintenance
Work closely with engineers and the fabrication team to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges
Document completed work and contribute to ongoing improvements in fabrication and assembly processes
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years hands-on experience as a Test Operations Technician or a similar Test Technician Role
Experience operating pneumatic systems
Proficient with mechanical assembly and common shop tools
Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and precision
Available to work Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CNC and lathe operations
Experience with soldering electrical components
Knowledge of test data acquisition systems and instrumentation setup
Comfortable working in a startup or R&D environment with evolving requirements
Willingness to travel for temporary assignments at test sites
