General purpose: Responsible for the management and supervision of all areas assigned by the Store Manager and for following policies regarding customers, associates, and merchandising. Learn all phases of store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads the entire operation to ensure Company standards and best practices are met. Responsibilities
Leads all Company Best Practices and maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working. Assists in the analysis of store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance. Communicates variances to Company standards to the Store Manager. Ensures proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives and complies with all state, local, and federal regulations. Ensures scheduling and completion of all associate cleaning tasks throughout the store, including restrooms. Accepts special assignments as directed by leadership. Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting as needed. Organizational development: assists in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt associates; ensures compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures; assists with associate relations issues and communicates incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as needed. Expense control: assists in managing and monitoring actual expenditures to stay within budget; controls payroll hours to plan and adjusts to current business trends. Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment: prioritizes safety, ensures emergency operating procedures are understood and followed, and maintains adherence to safety policies; facilitates monthly safety meetings. Customer Service: treats customers, associates, and leaders with respect; demonstrates courtesy and professionalism; trains and supervises associates in customer service programs and merchandise presentation; supervises and coaches associates at registers, service desks, fitting rooms, and sales floor. Personal and Store Brand: represents the company brand, maintains professional appearance per dress code, ensures a clean and organized store, and maintains high housekeeping standards with maintenance staff and associates; ensures cleaning tasks are completed. Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing: ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns meet company standards; presents merchandise according to guidelines; leads timely merchandise processing to the sales floor. Loss Prevention: assists in training on loss prevention, safeguards confidential information, understands the Loss Prevention program, leads annual inventory processes, monitors stock policies, and maintains the Public View Monitor system. Competencies: manages work processes, business acumen, planning and prioritization, talent development, collaboration, lead by example, effective communication, accountability and execution. Qualifications and Special Skills Required
Two or more years of store or assistant store manager experience in a retail environment. Ability to supervise, motivate and communicate positively to associates at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, provide direction and follow through to completion. Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment. Maintain high quality customer service. Fluency in English. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments. Physical Requirements/ADA
Ability to use all store equipment, including point-of-sale devices, registers and PCs as required. Ability to stand, walk and move around the store up to 100% of working time. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs. Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies. Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills. Supervisory Responsibilities
