Direct development, expansion, and execution of shop operations, equipment readiness, and maintenance development. Ensure a safe, productive, timely, and efficient shop operation in order to meet driver needs. Ensure shop operations meet all applicable federal, state, local DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations; identify and address additional compliance requirements as development continues. Collaborate with managers and directors to ensure cohesive organization and equipment development. Plan, review, organize, and direct shop maintenance, operation, and repair of equipment while maximizing revenue goals; ensure safe vehicle operations and regulatory compliance. Direct shop operational improvements, policies, procedures, and oversee equipment scheduling, inside repair, mobile repair, tooling, utilization, and customer satisfaction. Manage downtime, safety, quality, productivity, and develop reliable and advanced equipment practices to improve operations and reduce costs. Align maintenance KPIs with corporate strategy; uphold standards for repair quality, on-time delivery, cost reduction, safety, and employee relations. Participate in development of tractor and trailer specs to ensure equipment fits application and use. Provide insight on renovations or facility design to meet requirements and standardization across facilities. Develop programs to improve customer satisfaction, cost reduction, quality, safety, and other performance metrics. Participate in implementing innovative ideas or technology in the department (tooling, software, electric/hydrogen/autonomous vehicles, future). Maintain tractor and trailer maintenance standards, strategy, and development. Analyze work orders, warranty, and outside repair data for trends and recommend process changes to upper management. Contribute to strategic maintenance planning for tractors, trailers, and equipment assets in partnership with Corporate Maintenance. Improve department collaboration with other departments (especially operations) and manage vendor relationships within area of responsibility. Partner with Corporate Maintenance and Over the Road repair teams in vendor relationships. Identify training and development needs; provide learning opportunities for growth. Create and review SOPs, policies, and procedures for a maintenance environment. Implement the quality review process and reporting (shop and equipment audits). Collaborate cross-functionally with vendors and other organizations to achieve accountability and success. Develop and oversee the quality review process and reporting (shop and equipment audits). Continuously assess performance and remove barriers to performance. Ensure activities comply with applicable laws and regulations at all levels. Maintain subject matter expertise in FMCSA regulations and best practices. Partner with equipment onboarding, servicing, and retiring equipment through trade/sale processes. Oversee supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, training, evaluating, and assisting employees; provide corrective action as needed. Travel as necessary to assigned maintenance locations; handle multiple tasks concurrently. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested. Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a director of tractor maintenance or in an upper management role. Exceptional knowledge and expertise in fleet maintenance requirements. Strong ability to justify ROI for labor, equipment, and asset improvements. Skills/Certifications Innovative and forward thinking in traditional maintenance techniques and future technologies. Policy and process design. Knowledge of vehicle components relevant to the trucking industry. Ability to teach, coach, mentor, and train. Strong communication with senior management, peers, technicians, and suppliers. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong negotiation skills; well organized. Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Cetaris). Supervisory Responsibility:
