Overview The Director, XRA Roadside Assistance will have direct responsibility over the development, expansion and execution of shop operations, equipment readiness, and maintenance development. Ensure a safe, productive, timely, and efficient shop operation to meet driver needs and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
What You’ll Do
Plan, review, organize, and direct shop maintenance, shop operation, and repair of equipment while maximizing revenue goals and ensuring safe vehicle operations.
Direct shop operational improvements, policies, and procedures; oversee equipment scheduling, inside and mobile repair, tooling, equipment utilization and customer satisfaction.
Manage downtime, safety, quality, productivity; develop reliable and advanced equipment practices to improve operations, reliability, and cost.
Ensure maintenance KPIs align with corporate strategy; uphold standards for repair, on-time delivery, cost reduction, quality, safety, and employee relations.
Participate in equipment specs development and facility renovations to meet requirements and standardization.
Develop programs to deliver customer satisfaction, cost reduction, quality, safety, and other performance measures.
Support implementation of innovative ideas or technology in the department (tooling, software, electric/hydrogen/autonomous vehicles, future tech).
Maintain maintenance standards, strategy, and development for tractors and trailers.
Analyze work orders, warranty and outside repair data for trends and suggest process changes to upper management.
Lead and participate in strategic maintenance planning for tractors, trailers, and equipment assets in partnership with Corporate Maintenance.
Collaborate with other departments, vendors and internal/external stakeholders to achieve high standards of accountability and success.
Identify training and development needs; provide learning opportunities for growth.
Develop and review SOPs, policies and procedures in a maintenance environment; implement quality review processes and reporting (shop and equipment audits).
Travel as necessary to assigned maintenance locations and supervise operations such as hiring, training, evaluating, and corrective actions when needed.
Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a director of tractor maintenance or in an upper management role.
Exceptional knowledge of fleet maintenance requirements.
Strong ability to justify ROI for labor, equipment, and asset improvements.
Skills/Certifications
Innovative and forward-thinking in traditional maintenance and new technologies.
Policy and process design; knowledge of vehicle components related to trucking.
Strong communication with management, peers, technicians, and suppliers.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational and negotiation skills.
Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Cetaris).
Supervisory Responsibility:
5-7 Work Environment:
Normal office environment; standard office equipment used. Physical Requirements:
