Women of the Vine & Spirits Location: Aurora, CO Employer: Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits Overview The Director I, EHS promotes a positive safety culture while complying with SGWS safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting training, coaching associates on observed work habits, and performing audits as required by SGWS safety standards. SGWS promotes a Zero-Injury culture. The Director, EHS is responsible for maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and monthly data metrics to report to onsite operations leadership and corporate leadership. The role supports site management in ensuring compliance with all corporate safety program expectations and applicable federal and state laws. The Director I, EHS conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions under the direction of EHS leadership, and recommends and inspires change for Operations Leadership through risk mitigation and safety data analysis. Primary Responsibilities Promote an injury-free culture across the division to reduce EHS risks and ensure a safe and compliant work environment Assure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, occupational health and environmental regulations including implementing SGWS safety standards and management systems Assess work areas, tasks, equipment, and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions; ensure Job Hazards Analyses are conducted and corrective actions are implemented to minimize injuries and environmental impact Conduct safety training and implement proactive programs to mitigate employee injuries and illnesses (e.g., stretching for safety and behavioral-based safety programs) Investigate and evaluate root causes for occupational injuries/illnesses, incidents and near misses; maintain data to drive strategic program decisions; educate line organization on incident investigations including coaching Facilitate Division Safety Committee and ensure corrective actions are taken for items raised by safety committee members Conduct facility safety observations and inspections on a regular basis; promote hazard identification and recommend corrective actions Maintain understanding of business processes and interdependencies; recognize and escalate risks or opportunities to improve division performance Additional Primary Responsibilities Demonstrate advanced understanding of online data management tools and OSHA 300 log/injury records; perform trend analysis as required Collaborate with Facilities and Operations teams on planning and execution of engineering and new technology applications to ensure safeguards meet regulatory requirements Work with Operations Fleet Safety and DOT compliance teams to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations Coordinate deployment of environmental procedures (HazMat, SPCC, Tier II, etc.) and ensure ongoing environmental regulatory permits compliance Visit job sites to monitor performance and work with division managers to improve performance in response to risk assessment observations Capable of working under pressure and dealing with unexpected challenges professionally Perform other job-related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications BS/BA in Safety, Health, or related science or equivalent combination of education and experience (8-10 years in EHS) Hold CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, OHST, CHST, CSHM, or other recognized EHS credentials, or willingness to secure within 3 years of hire Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations and background in incident investigation and EHS training Working knowledge of warehouse equipment operation; Power Industrial Equipment (PIT) Train-the-Trainer certification within 1 year if not already credentialed Effective communication and presentation skills; ability to lead or facilitate meetings First Aid, CPR & AED trained, or ability to complete within 1 year of hire Strong knowledge of Worker’s Compensation practices and reporting Working knowledge of MS Office and EHS data management systems (e.g., Intelex, Gensuite, Eneblon) Smith System Train-the-Trainer certified or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire Physical Demands Time spent sitting and typing, using a computer Active duties may include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs EEO Statement Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits is an Affirmative Action/EEO employer and provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or other protected characteristics.
