The Division of University Advancement builds and nurtures relationships to promote UNCG’s mission and secure philanthropic support. Primary Mission and Responsibilities
Lead the strategic direction of the Prospect Management and Research team, ensuring data-driven, collaborative practices that support the university’s fundraising goals.
Design and execute strategic, data-driven prospect identification and comprehensive wealth and propensity screenings; oversee due diligence research efforts.
Supervise two Prospect Development Analysts and collaborate with frontline fundraisers and advancement leadership; play a key role in CRM transition to enhance data integration and functionality.
Essential Responsibilities and Time Allocation
Strategic Leadership
(20%): Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Prospect Management and Research team aligned with fundraising goals; foster collaboration across the division.
Process Improvement and Innovation
(20%): Move to a data-driven approach using analytics, machine learning, and data visualization; evaluate and integrate new technologies; ensure CRM capabilities meet advancement needs.
Team Management and Development
(15%): Supervise two analysts, set measurable goals, promote collaboration with major gift officers, and manage workload and projects.
Prospect Identification and Management
(5%): Oversee identification, qualification, and management of prospects; maintain a robust pipeline for major gifts; use data analytics to identify trends.
Research Resources & Budget
(5%): Track budget, manage evaluation and procurement of resources, and participate in vendor evaluations for screening products.
Compliance and Best Practices
(5%): Ensure ethical compliance with university policies and stay current with industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Mastery of standard research methodologies for evaluating donor prospects (capacity, inclination, readiness) and recommending relationship strategies.
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; knowledge of CRM tools used in fundraising; ability to incorporate pipeline data into a CRM.
Experience managing prospect identification & research methods and directing a prospect management system in support of fundraising initiatives.
Analytical skills with experience in data analysis, fundraising databases, wealth indicators interpretation, and philanthropic context.
Ability to lead strategic planning, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex information clearly.
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred
5+ years in fundraising operations, advancement services, prospect research/management or related fields
Experience with CRM transitions and system integrations
Experience with Banner (Advancement module) and EverTrue
Experience transforming prospect research through analytics and technology
Mastery of the development cycle and the role of prospect research
Experience creating prospect identification plans aligned to fundraising priorities
Experience tailoring prospect strategy management for annual, major, and principal gift prospects
